GOTO: CURRENT MEETINGS / EVENTS

The purpose of this webpage is to show you the quality guest speakers that have addressed this club since 2005. We appreciate the professionals that have given freely of their time to impart their skills and knowledge to the KCC! As we strive to broaden our professional film community, we rely upon others in the industry to help share their experience and enrich the newer members of the film community. As KCC does not collect any type of fees or membership, you can be assured that every person is seriously dedicated to helping out the fellow members of the community.

Our (twenty-forth) meeting was: Wednesday, 21 May 2008, 1830 EST (6:30 p.m.) at the "Pink Door: Noodles and Tea Lounge" Restaurant.
Our first guest speaker was: a professional published author, poet, former English professor from the University of Louisville, and restaurateur, Bill Smith (W. Loran Smith) who owns the Shady Lane Cafe. Bill spoke about his publications and the profession of writing quality products that your market will seek to purchase. His talents at creative writing translate into helping filmmakers understand how they must adapt their concepts into scripts or screenplays.
For the second portion of our meeting, we viewed the director's-cut of "Celtic Women: A New Journey" which is a unique and behind-the-scenes view of producing a musical production, but then also turning that into a TV special at the historical Slane Castle in Ireland.

Our (twenty-third) meeting was: Wednesday, 23 April 2008, 1830 EST (6:30 p.m.) at the "Pink Door: Noodles and Tea Lounge" Restaurant.
One Special announcement was made by:
Derrick Beasley about his contribution to the local indie film community.
Our guest speaker was Filmmaker Mark Poole
You can read more about Mark on IMDB. Also, be sure to visit his webpages on:

Dead Moon Rising - A mysterious disease
overtakes the world, and the infected develop a hankering for human flesh. Jim and his fellow Cheapskate
Car Rental clerks are oblivious to the changes going on right outside their door until it literally gets
right in their faces. Jim struggles with disgruntled customers, hordes of cannibals, the barely legal
April, his certifiable ex-girlfriend Vix (the sexy "Terminatrix"), reconciling issues with his brother, an
aversion to guns, and the "pants thing."
Can Jim pull it together and rally Louisville's remaining bike gangs and defeat the infected hordes? Maybe with the help of a 1000 round per minute machine gun.
Dead Moon Rising features an ensemble cast of 14,600 choppers, twelve hundred extras, and contains the "World's Largest Zombie Scene."
Girls, ghouls, and guns, what else do you need for a good time?

Requiem for the Fallen - We can't give too much
away yet, but Anubis Digital Studios is currently producing a dark fantasy/horror movie. The movie,
tentatively titled Requiem for the Fallen, is an amazing world of good angels, bad angels, and demons that
you won't want to miss.

Michael Breeding MEDIA
Michael Breeding MEDIA Michael Breeding MEDIA is a multimedia firm based in Lexington and Louisville,
Kentucky. For more than 25 years, Michael Breeding's unique and widely recognized style of enlightenment
through excellence in quality and beauty has distinguished him as a "master artisan." His strength lies in
his ability to develop superior creative teams with a steadfast goal of superior product.
Through hard work and exceptional deliverables, Michael Breeding MEDIA has developed a sterling reputation amongst their clients. Marcheta Sparrow of The Kentucky Tourism Council stated: "MBM's list of satisfied clients is a lengthy and distinguished one. I know from talking with many of my counterparts in the industry that have hired MBM, satisfied is an inadequate adjective for describing their perspective of their work. Go to your thesaurus, look for synonyms for thrilled or ecstatic, and you will be closer to the mark."

MBM has a proven track record for producing films that achieve clients. goals- whether they involve education, persuasion, or development - while, at the same time, working within parameters of budget and format. A key reason for this effectiveness is MBM.s creative process, which gives professional and careful attention to each aspect of the project.
Our process begins with a comprehensive research and discovery phase in order to capture the purpose, nature, intent, essence and desired effect of the documentary project. This foundation enables MBM to translate client goals into a creative concept recommended to fit the intended audience. Once the concept is approved, our veteran writers compose a well-crafted message.

Our (nineteenth) meeting was: Tuesday, 30 October 2007, 1830 EST (6:30 p.m.) at the "Pink Door: Noodles and Tea Lounge" Restaurant. Our first guest speaker was Professional Comedian and Actor Marty Pollio who has amassed a very impressive resume while living in Los Angeles and Louisville and throughout his 30-year career as a professional performer. He spoke at our meeting and addressed the topic of COMEDY WRITING and significant topics relating to the motion picture industry in Kentucky. Marty has been an actor in major Hollywood productions that include film and network television (NBC's "Tonight Show" and "Night Court"). In association with Vin Morreale and VSM Productions, he has recently finished producing his first video product in a line of upcoming projects he has planned for the next two years.
Marty's past presentation with KCC focused on some of the key learning experiences he had in the creation, post-production and marketing of his new comedic, instructional DVD, "How To Juggle and Other Cheap Tricks!" To sample his production work (both comedic and serious) there are samples on the following pages:

Please be sure to attend this meeting!

Our second speaker was Chris Stroble http://www.nku.edu/~strobelc/ from Northern Kentucky University (NKU) to discuss their degree program. Mr. Strobel is a Coordinator and Assistant Professor for the Electronic Media & Broadcasting Department of Communication: College of Informatics. Getting to learn what new college degrees can helped our members to professionalize our skills was greatly important for everyone to migrate from making short films for free to being able to earn a good living from a new career. The acquisition of a sound education is paramount to your success, be sure to attend his presentation.

I was the Production Manager for WTWO-TV, the NBC affiliate in Terre Haute, IN upon graduation from Indiana State University. I had directed the weekend newscasts and shot and edited corporate videos and commercials for the station before running the department from 1990-94. While there I also created an educational children's show (Stepping Stones) that aired on Saturday mornings and actually won our time slot against national cartoon programming, but the best thing about being in the 'Haute - I met my wife at the MDA Telethon when I produced the show and she ran the local MDA.

After TV-2 I went back to school to earn my MA in Film and Video from The American University in Washington, DC. An excellent place. Cannot recommend the university, program or city highly enough. I won a few awards for the films that I made, including for "Believe," my thesis film. While finishing up film school I purchased a Media 100 system and started "Good Morning Egg Productions," my film and video company. My wife and I moved back to the midwest, choosing Cincinnati as our new home, and GME flourished here for five years and I worked with big (P&G, AOL) and small companies while keeping my hand in film work - I've edited five feature films for directors other than myself. I have shuttered the decidedly for-profit GME in favor of a new venture (Red Thread Media) that focuses upon creating media with a message.
Directing the Forgetting Project in 2000 I started teaching adjunct for the Audio/Video Production program at Southern Ohio College (now Brown Mackie College) in Cincinnati. Doug Yeager, the current Department Chair there, was on staff and had worked with me on a couple professional movie projects. I liked teaching (it's why went back to film school) and when the Department Chair position opened up I was fortunate enough to get the job. A year later, I was running the AVP, Accounting, Business and CAD programs for SOC - but not teaching any more. An adjunct I had hired told NKU about me (she was a recent NKU graduate) and a position that was open seemed to fit my talents and interests. I moved across the river in 2002 and have loved it ever since. I progressed from being a 'mere' assistant professor to officially coordinating what was then the Radio/Television program in 2005. In fall of 2007 we restructured the program to more accurately reflect the nature of media creation today and renamed ourselves Electronic Media & Broadcasting.
The biggest project I've headed up is the Forgetting Project - a narrative/documentary piece on how Alzheimer's Disease affects the family. That is currently in narrative post and documentary production, with a completion goal of August 2007. I am also one of the founders of the College Weekend Movie Festival - a wild 5 day moviemaking competition between the area media programs. Last year one of our NKU groups won the CWMF - that movie is featured on the new "official" EMB website: http://emb.nku.edu/.

Our (eighteenth) meeting was: Wednesday, 18 July 2007, 1830 EST(6:30 p.m.) at the "Pink Door: Noodles and Tea Lounge" Restaurant. Our (seventeenth) meeting was: Saturday, 30 June 2007, 1800 EST(6:00 p.m.) at the "Pink Door: Noodles and Tea Lounge" Restaurant. Our guest speaker was Mr. Chris Korrow, a Kentucky film producer, writer, director, and environmentalist. He showed two of his short films; one of which will be shown nationally on public TV in July 2007.
