As our group seeks to introduce new topics; new/old equipment at each meeting; and show movies to the club too, it is respectfully requested that you do the following:

  • THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO ADDRESS OUR CLUB AND SHARE YOUR SKILLS!
  • At least two weeks before your presentation, be sure to give me your contact information (email & phone numbers) so if there are any changes or emergencies, we can adequately communicate with one another;
  • Call me a week before the meeting to ensure you will be in attendance and you have the details enumerated below addressed too;
  • Call me on the day of the meeting to ensure you can still attend. This call should be at least two (2) hours prior to the meeting as it is likely that each of us should already be heading to the meeting location that far in advance of the meeting;
  • Show up 60 minutes prior to the start of the meeting for which you will be presenting as this is your time to set up and even eat some food before your presentation;
  • If you have never frequented the meeting place before, consider visiting it the week preceding our meeting to be sure that you know how to find it. This will also help you to know how long it will take to drive from your home or office;
  • Upon arriving at the meeting, introduce yourself as the presenter if we have never met in person before. This always helps me to be sure that the meeting will fully prepared before the club members arrive;
  • Feel free to have at least a one-page hand out about your topic (equipment, movie, or area of experience for which you will be teaching the club about that day). A hard copy ensures a more complete learning experience is derived by the audience. If the audience can focus on your presentation, they will not have to take as many notes;
  • Be prepared to answer a variety of questions on your topic as it is likely that you know more than the audience on this particular topic;
  • As meetings are in public places, even if our club members are 18 years of age and older, please be considerate to the host location of the type of presentation you will be making. We must respect that patrons of the restaurant or coffee shop might be under 18 years of age and hear our presentation, even if they are on the other side of the establishment from us. As we do not charge membership dues, meeting in public has certain responsibilities even if our club members are all above 18 years of age;
  • During presentations, always be sure that the club members can hear you speak. Working on presentation skills during meetings will help you to be prepared for when you eventually will be pitching your movie to production companies or potential investors. The goal of having you arrive early is so that you can become comfortable with our meeting location and potentially practice your presentation at least once before the club members arrive.
  • If you will be presenting a movie on CD or DVD, please bring at least two copies of it as there can be glitches on copies that we are not aware of ahead of time. BE PREPARED!!!
  • Please know that at this point, the club does not own a modern projector, a laptop, a sound system, etc. So if you are making a presentation, we might need to arrange asking club members in advance if someone would be kind enough to lend their equipment for that meeting. If you are presenting on a topic, it works best if you can bring your own equipment for your presentation. Renting equipment can be rather expensive and as we do not charge dues, there is no budget for rental equipment;
  • Some of our members reside in opposite ends of Kentucky and potentially in other surrounding states and therefore will be driving great distances. We welcome your presentation and ask that you be fully prepared as the show must go on anyway.
  • As members can be driving long distances to attend the meetings; it is possible that traffic might slow down the arrival of those members. We apologize for that in advance if anyone arrives after your presentation has started.
